Hi All.

My name is Ilya Portnov, i live in Magnitogorsk (Russia), my activity area is information technologies.

In fact, this site is yet another home page. In addition, i re-translate my blog here, and publish my projects, to not too bother people from SourceForge team :)


Ilya Victorovich Portnov, born in 1984. Currently a technical writer in CompassPlus Ltd (Magnitogorsk). Have finished physics and mathematics faculty of Magnitogorsk State University (`applied mathematics and informatics' speciality) .

I'm working with Linux since 2003. Using Linux on all my computers as main system since 2005. Was working as system administrator on my faculty for two years (there was a network, consisting of about 40 machines, and a server). On many my friends' computers (desktops and laptops) there is Linux, and I consult them regularly.

Programmer, contestant of several quater-finals of world programming championships (ACM ICPC, in Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk). Coach of MaSU's sport programming teams for several years. I know well 5 programming languages (C, Python, Pascal, Perl, PHP), and about 8 in some extent (C++, OCaml, Haskell, Ruby, Assembler x86, Forth, Fortran 90, Lua).

Webmaster, have wrote CMS for my faculty's internal site. Have expirience in working with Joomla and Drupal CMS, and developing web-applications in Python using Django framework.

In internet I am known as author of "Random notes" blog (http://iportnov.blogspot.com) (writing mostly technical articles for advanced users, but sometimes for novice too). Also known as Portnov on http://unixforum.org
